Little Hill Forest Club, originally started in 2018 as Forest Club and expanded to Little Hill Forest Club in 2020, is a hiking and nature adventure group based in El Cerrito, CA, for young kids and the adults caring for them. Since its inception, LHFC has strived to create a welcoming and inclusive community to support all families getting outside and enjoying time in nature.
Family
We believe family is the adults and the children in their care. This can be moms, dads, by blood or by love, aunts, uncles, grandparents, care givers, babysitters, those who fall within gender norms or those who don’t. Families might be big or families might be small. How ever you define family works for us!
Hiking
We believe hiking is moving our bodies in nature. Moving can be quick, or it can be slow. Moving can mean being carried - in a backpack, a front pack, or in arms. Moving can mean pausing to investigate. Moving can mean standing and swaying, listening, and feeling. Nature can be a park, a trail, developed or more wild.
Community
We believe community is a group of people brought together by a common interest, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging. At LHFC, our common interest is fostering an appreciation for the natural world in ourselves and the children in our care. Our shared experiences come for our daily lives raising little humans - all the joys and struggles that brings. Our community thrives on the spirit of cooperation and unity, bringing unique individuals together to navigate life’s journey collectively - celebrating achievements (trying something new, a first lost tooth), overcoming obstacles (my kid doesn’t want to wear clothes, I’m all touched out), and creating a rich interconnectedness that spans time and place.
